What Next?

In the weeks following 9/11 I sat in my living room glued to CNN, trying to make sense of the fact that the world had suddenly gone mad. Hijacked airplanes crashing into buildings? Terrorist sleeper cells waiting for the call to strike? The deadly Anthrax disease travelling through the U.S. Postal system? The unthinkable was occurring and it was terrifying. Seven years later I find myself once again sitting in my living room, glued to CNN, only this time it is not buildings falling down, but the entire U.S. economy. Enormous banks, investment and insurance companies going bankrupt? $700 billion taxpayer dollars spent to buy up worthless debts? Another possible Great Depression in our future? Once again turmoil grips our country and anxiety is gripping my soul. It will be interesting to see how this one plays out.

I know exactly how you feel. The casual comments made in the past in regards to another depression were almost said in exaggeration. Now, its no longer an exaggeration and the words aren't flying carelessly out of the mouths of the every day Joe Blow, but are being said with strong tones of worry by those who run this country. Things just seem to be worsening and I find myself wondering if this country will survive this. I wonder how life will end up being for my unborn child. And I can't help but to wonder how much time do we all have left on this planet?

well, as of this afternoon the dow dropped 778 points!!!that's a record in history. the economy can stop at any moment. i think if we go through a depression, it will be worse than the one before. we rely on soooo many resources. it won't matter if you have a dollar or a million....money won't be any good.
